JOB IDENTIFICATION
Title: Staff Accountant
Division: Administrative
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: President
BASIC FUNCTION
Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. Supervise accounting function from company perspective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, implements, modifies, and documents budgeting, cost, general, property, and tax accounting systems.
• Computes taxes owed, ensures compliance with tax payment, reporting, and other tax requirements, and represents establishment before taxing authority.
• Establishes table of accounts, and assigns entries to proper accounts.
• Audits contracts, and prepares reports to substantiate transactions prior to settlement.
• Appraises, evaluates, and inventories real property and equipment, and records description, value, location, and other information.
• Adapts accounting and record keeping functions to current technology of computerized accounting systems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelors’ Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent education combined with experience
• Certified Public Accountant certification is preferred.
Experience:
• Desired: 2 to 5 years of experience in finance or accounting position.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
• Proficiency in PeachTree preferred.
• Knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
• Strong understanding and implementation of 'Business Modeling'
• High proficiency in MS Office Suite (primarily Excel)
• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule when necessary
• Preferred experience working in a small to mid size company environment
