Accountant Job in Memphis, Tennessee

Controller: Under the supervision of the Director of Finance the Controller will supervise the Business Office Manager, GL Accountant, and Bookkeeper, coordinate the month-end close, review all entries made to the general ledger for accuracy, ensure that all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled, prepare the annual agency budget, compare monthly operations to budget and work with interdepartmental staff to explain and reconcile significant variances, assist the Director of Finance with preparation of internal and external financial reports and prepare year-end audit schedules as requested. Bachelor's Degree in accounting with a minimum of 5-7 years supervisory and detail general ledger experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, and financial statement preparation. Must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and possess strong interpersonal skills; must possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including excel, access and word and must have Great Plains experience. Not-for-profit and Crystal Report Writer experience is a plus. General Accounting:Must have 5 years accounting experience. The Accounting Clerk performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department including: Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records. Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs (SAP) Compile data and prepare a variety of reports. Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers. Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies.
