Position Overview: The job requires performing more complex phases of accounting tax and audit engagement activities to assist in the completion of tax, audit review and compilation engagements. Assist with the preparation and completion of federal and state tax returns, related schedules and reports. Ensure compliance and provide research support. Essential Responsibilities: • Liaison with outside tax firm in estimated tax payments and filings • Versed in sales and use tax for at least 9 states • Comfortable learning and improving taxation processes • Compile, review and analyze accounting data • Coordinate responses related to tax examinations, including internal, external and agency audits • Assist with state tax audits; gather documentation, prepare data analysis and assist with correspondence to tax authorities • Research and interpret US tax laws for compliance issues • Assist preparation of tax accruals • Assist with tax planning • Review fixed assets in conjunction with outside tax firm for proper tax classification and generate depreciation reports • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations • Perform tax related research and analysis of emerging authoritative guidance and summarize impact • Prepare use and property tax returns and maintain tax ledgers • Prepare and gather supporting documentation and explanations for monthly financial reporting • Develop, implement and maintain company policies and procedures • Accurately prepare and book journal entries for assigned accounts • Investigate and provide analysis of fluctuations and monthly results • Assist in or complete GAAP reporting requirements • Perform other general accounting duties as assigned Qualifications and Experience Required: • Advance knowledge of Federal, State and/or International tax statutes and regulations • Basic ability to research and interpret tax law • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and financial accounting processes • Strong analytical and organizational skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to operate supporting software packages • Intermediate to advanced Excel and database skills • Ability to work independently and as a team member • 5 years progressive experience Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field • CPA Required Work Environment: • Office environment • Occasional extended hours required Sunlight Supply offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits and programs including health and welfare benefits, 401(k) program, profit sharing and more.
