About Capital Good Fund: Capital Good Fund (Good Fund) is a social change organization whose mission is to provide equitable financial services that create pathways out of poverty. Our three offices are located in Providence, Woonsocket and Hartford. As a non-profit, certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we offer low-income families one-on-one Financial & Health Coaching and personal loans of up to $10,000. The job of the Accounting Officer is to maintain the financial health and resiliency of the organization through bookkeeping, generating financial statements, and communicating regularly about budget and cashflow concerns. Responsibilities: • Process accounts payable and ensure bills are paid on time • Process all receivables including cash, check and ACH income, and transfer funds as appropriate among Good Fund bank accounts • Maintain integrity of QuickBooks records • Train and manage assistant bookkeeping interns • Prepare and be able to explain all basic monthly financial reports • Present to Finance Committee on budget-to-actuals, historical performance, and forward-looking topics such as risk management, operating liquidity, capital reserves, and proposed changes to policy and procedure About You: We are looking for exceptional people. You must: • be proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Desktop • have earned a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent experience • have knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit organization, as well as a desire to learn new tools and methods Preferred background or experience • Experience as the primary point of contact for an annual audit of financial statements • Experience with loan tracking: accounting for bad debt, interest accrual, and reconciling payment summaries • Experience developing departmental or organizational budgets and tracking budget-to-actuals • Experience with responsibility for financial management within a high-growth nonprofit organization Training, and Compensation The Accounting Officer will receive extensive training on all of Good Fund’s systems and accounting policies and procedures, as well as on Good Fund’s products and services. The Accounting Officer will also work closely with experienced financial and operations staff until such time as he or she is proficient in the responsibilities of the role. This is a 40 hour/week, full-time, exempt, at-will position. The Accounting Officer will earn an annual base salary of $36,000. In addition, he or she will receive a competitive benefits package that includes a bus pass, medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and fifteen days paid time off in the first year on staff.
