Accountant in College Park, Maryland

I consider myself an accountant by training even though my most recent employment did not make use of those skills to a degree I would have liked. Now that I am back in the job market, I am looking for someone to give me a chance to really start my accounting career. I am passionate about accounting and its processes. I am a quick learner and am comfortable in various work environments. For over a decade, I was progressively promoted in my position at JSI, Inc., a niche consulting and management firm on accounting, financial management, and compliance. In service of my diverse client base, I ensured regulatory compliance, managed fixed assets, property, and equipment, conducted onsite audits, and provided customized education and training to onsite staff. I also trained several junior members of our team, and was regularly sought out for my skills at troubleshooting the details of our complex record-keeping process. At this point, I am exploring other opportunities where I can apply these skills to new and broader industries. Past employers have commented on my organizational skills, dependability, punctuality, attention to detail, and hardworking attitude. I am fluent in Microsoft Office and similar PC applications, with expertise in Excel, particularly with regard to pivot table and VLOOKUP functions. I have over 10 years of experience in the departments of accounting, payroll, administration, and marketing. I am a graduate of the University of Maryland as well as a recipient of an accounting certificate that, together with my bachelor’s degree qualifies me to sit for the CPA exam.
