I believe that good customer service, solid standards and policies and good ole accounting knowledge is still the best way to run an establishment. I've worked as an accountant for close to 20 years. About 15 years ago, I worked as a staff accountant for a small local CPA/tax office. My job was to handle the bookkeeping for our newly acquired small business clients. When the clients came to me see, the majority of them had boxes of receipts and business documents. No one had prepared their books before. Most of them did not understand what an accountant's role was and how an accountant could help them get a handle on their business finances and keep them in the black - not the red. They did not realize that their accountant could also be their trusted advisor. All of them thought that an accountant was that one business luxury that they could not afford. After that job, I made it my mission to gain as much knowledge and skill as I could in my new field so that I could one day be that accountant that small businesses need but think they can't afford. I bring all of my knowledge from working in large public corporations, non-profits and small businesses to my small business clients.
